Northern Ireland’s Children to
Lapland Trust
The Children to Lapland Appeal was launched in September 2007 in
conjunction with a Southern Ireland based Tour Operator.
On finding that at any one time, in Northern Ireland there are
over 900 terminally ill children, excluding long term sick and
deserving children, it was decided to legally form our own
registered charity to serve our own province.
Hence ‘ NORTHERN IRELAND ’S CHILDREN TO LAPLAND TRUST’ was
created and legally registered as a charity. Its purpose is to
provide a day full of magic, fun and fantasy, by taking
long-term, terminally ill and deserving children to meet Santa
at his home in Lapland .
Last year on 23rd December, we took 176 to Lapland (109
children, the rest being made up of doctors, nurses and carers).
The joy that was experienced by the children, many of whom had
bravely endured great suffering in their daily lives, was pure
magic. Many of these children are no longer with us and indeed,
it was probably the last trip they made.
Our Hospice and Hospitals, who solely select the children, are
extremely excited that we intend making this an annual event.
Our sole aim is to provide the magic and fulfil their young
fantasies on a trip of a lifetime – a lifetime that sometimes is
sadly too short
