How You Can Help

In: News

3 Nov 2011

We work hard to keep our costs to a minimum, unlike many large national and international charities.

We need your help to give one day of joy to forget a lifetime of suffering. We would really appreciate if you could help in any of the following ways:

  • Send us a cheque payable to NI Children to Lapland Trust at 46 Swifts Quay, Carrickfergus, Co Antrim BT38 8BQ. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference;
  • Make a payment at any branch of the Northern Bank to NI Children to Lapland Trust, Abbeycentre Branch, Longwood Road, Newtownabbey;
  • Set up a standing order to make a monthly payment by downloading our standing order form. By giving as little as £5 per month (and encouraging your friends or work colleagues to do the same), this will really help; If you let us know that you have set up a standing order (07542 852 825), we can check it has been received and claim tax relief, if appropriate.
  • Make a secure donation online by credit card on this website.
  • Organise a fund raising event with your friends, family or colleagues in aid of the Northern Ireland Children to Lapland Trust and have some fun at the same time – what about a Karaoke night, Wine Tasting evening, Sponsored Head Shave or Come Dine With Me Event?
  • If you are a business or know one that is prepared to match your fundraising efforts, this would be most generous. If you are an employee, perhaps you could encourage your boss to do this!
  • Sponsor one child on the trip for £600;
  • Within your workplace or your own family, you might consider a ‘secret Santa’ donation in lieu of presents – allowing our ill and deserving children to have their day with the ‘real’ Santa in Lapland;
  • Donate a prize for our ballots or auctions to help raise funds;
  • Make a donation to the Northern Ireland Children to Lapland Trust in lieu of the cost of Christmas cards and stamps. Let your friends, family and work contacts know by environmentally friendly e-mail, text or ‘phone what you
    are doing;
  • Help us to raise awareness of the charity in your area – please give us a ring on 07542 852 825 and we can have a chat.
    We do not pay for expensive marketing so your help is important to us;

Northern Ireland’s Children To Lapland Trust (NICLT)

The Fantasy Flight to see Santa at his home in Lapland, which had to be postponed because of the adverse weather conditions in December, took place on the 2nd February – and was a huge success.

Over 100 terminally ill, long term ill and deserving children and their carers accepted Santa’s special invitation – and he made sure that everyone had a day to remember.

There were sleigh rides led by husky dogs and by reindeer, snow mobiles and the Ice Hotel – all in the magic snow covered landscape of Santa’s home. As well as a gift for every child Santa also made a special farewell appearance for the whole group.

Jack Rodgers, Chairman of the N.I. Children To Lapland Trust, which organise s the trip each year said “when the trip had to be postponed at Christmas, we were determined not to disappoint these children.  Without a trip like ours, with so many medical personnel in attendance, so many of these kids simply wouldn’t be able to enjoy an experience like this.  The look of sheer joy on their faces makes it all worthwhile”

As one tired, but happy, mother said as she arrived back at Belfast International Airport “It has been a totally enjoyable experience – one we will never forget. My son will be talking about it for weeks”

Let's help NI Kids

In Northern Ireland, at any given time, there are approximately over 900 Children suffering from a terminal illness - help us to give as many of them as possible a day of joy to forget a lifetime of suffering!
